AVAMIGRATRON is a migration tool for your Slack to Teams or Teams to Teams (Tenant to Tenant) migration, that helps you in easy, effective and customized migration depending on your organizational needs. Not just that, it is cost-effective and fits your budget perfectly.

Zero data loss, cost-effective and hassle-free migration!

There are two methods/ approaches with which we can migrate.

  • Approach 1 – Conversation API
  • Approach 2 – Import API

The MS Teams Import API approach (method 1) is time-consuming and is prone to throttles as it is slow in heavy data migration. Whereas the other approach will have no throttles, and perhaps you’ll have a quicker and effective migration.

Microsoft has introduced the Import API for migrating messages while retaining the actual source message posted time and the source message posted username. While we discussed various benefits of it, in the previous article, this article will let you know its limitations.

Limitation of the Import API

Just as any other tech and software, the new API also has its limitations. Let us dive in and learn more about them.

  • We need to create new MS Teams or Channels under Migration Mode.
  • When in the migration stage, Microsoft does not allow to create of a private channel under created Migration Mode MS Teams
  • Allows migration of messages only under the migration mode MS Teams Channels and not under the existing MS Teams channel
  • Incremental migration is possible only with a service account
  • Bot posted messages are not migrated

Migration mode is where you will not be able to view or even access the team in the UI. But you can spot check and ensure the channels and messages look good in the target only after you exit the migration mode. And also, if the team already exists in the target, the import API cannot migrate the messages.

Some of the other unsupported or out of scope items include:

  • @ Mentions
  • Reactions
  • Slack Private channels
  • 1:1 and group chats
  • Stickers
  • Emojis
  • Quotes
  • Code Snippets
  • Videos
  • Cross posts between channels

Oh, wait! You must be worried thinking that import API is a bad choice for migration? Not at all!

Here’s when the AVAMIGRATRON does the magic!

AVAMIGRATRON supports and migrates all of the unsupported items that are mentioned above with ease.

We will help you overcome all your hurdles, challenges and roadblocks of migration effectively and conveniently. We understand how important these migrations are for your organization and thus our tool has a customized option that will be tailor for your business needs.
